Shrek the Third is the final installment in Dreamworks Animations' hit film series, Shrek. The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 11, 2007 to mark its theatrical release. The film has garnered mixed reviews from critics upon release. Shrek 3 grossed $752 million domestically and $814 million internationally for a total of $1.5 billion, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2007 behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End ($1.76 billion). Shrek, Fiona and their triplets are on vacation in the Kingdom of Far Far Away when they discover Fiona's parents, Queen Lillian and King Harold, who have been turned into ogres by an evil charm. Shrek insists on rescuing the powerful potion from Puss in Boots (who delivered it in a box of Chinese take-out) and he and Donkey set out with Toadee to find the goose that lays the golden eggs. They travel to a land which is ruled by an evil tyrant, Arthur Pendragon (the future King Arthur), who has imprisoned the former king and queen and banned magic. They are then arrested by the royal guards. They escape the castle, but the only way to exit is guarded by a three-headed ogre. Shrek realizes that it's Artie and battles him. Artie pulls a lever that opens a trapdoor, and he falls into a pit of lava below after Fiona stops Druff from killing Shrek. Shrek, Fiona and Donkey go to the Poison Apple tavern where they find Puss in Boots singing about how he delivered the Potion of Transformation "in the usual way". Shrek realizes he gave them the wrong potion and grabs Puss out of the bar, but Puss' cat friend, Kitty Kitty Puss (voiced by Jane Krakowski), gets his boots and escapes with him. Shrek and Fiona catch up to them after crossing a log bridge. The take-out box falls off the bridge and Nanny tells Shrek that it's "a bad omen". On their way to rescue Puss and Kitty Kitty Puss, they encounter Lazy Shellfish (voiced by Eddie Murphy) who transforms into a snail upon trying to eat Shrek's foot. Shrek transforms Lazy Shellfish back into a shellfish. The three are chased by Lazy Shellfish, but the chase ends when the villains fall into a pit of tar. The trio arrive at Puss' home where Puss is reunited with his cat friend, Kitty Kitty Puss. Shrek decides to return to Far Far Away with Fiona, but he is arrested by the guards before he can leave because of an "old ogre statute". The trio are then chased by Prince Charming (voiced by Mike Myers) who tries to kidnap Fiona so that his evil witch mother can use her as bait to catch the real ogre and take control of the kingdom. cfa1e77820
